So here is an easy red sauce that I use on pizza and pasta:
3 - 4 gloves garlic
olive oil
1 large can tomatoes
pepper flakes
fresh basil
salt and pepper
Saute garlic in about 2 Tbs oil until soft (make sure not to burn or it will become bitter tasting)
Add salt and pepper flakes to taste
Using a food mill, puree the tomatoes into the garlic
Cook for several minutes until the flavors come together.
Season with salt and pepper
Finish with strips of the basil
